The product is a starter-sized plant with an approximate 4-inch-diameter root zone. The plant will be a minimum of 6 to 8 inches tall. It will not have buds or blooms on arrival. Starter-sized plants are intended for a gardener to plant and grow to their mature size.

  • A rare and uncommon tropical epiphyte shrub native to South America, Juanulloa aurantiaca is an absolute must-have for any collector who is drawn to unique and exotic plants. It grows lush and full quickly in the warm season, with long, arching, vine-like canes that can be trained to a trellis or other support.
  • Commonly called Goldfinger Bush, this plant is known for its elongated, golden-orange buds that resemble fingers. The opening of the blooms is a long, multi-week process that makes the plant a showy centerpiece. Its flowers are a rich nectar source that attracts hummingbirds and butterflies.
  • Care: An easy-to-grow plant that thrives in a location with partial shade to full sun. It requires a rich, well-drained soil and consistent watering. It grows quickly during the warm season but will enter a semi-dormant period in the winter.
  • Indoor Growing: Due to its tropical, epiphyte nature and high humidity needs, this plant is not well-suited for the average indoor environment. Its home outside of the native rainforest is typically in a botanical garden or conservatory, making it a better choice for a greenhouse or a very carefully managed indoor space.
  • Climate: As a rare tropical plant, Juanulloa aurantiaca is best suited for outdoor planting in USDA Hardiness Zones 10 and 11. It will not tolerate freezing temperatures and must be protected in colder climates.
